I have lived all my life on the North Shore of Massachusetts and in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I presently travel around New England to record its many scenic and everyday places. In my work, I aim to create a sense of this place that I call home through images ofpathways, natural landmarks, and familiar architectural forms. The work captures the relationships between these features of the landscape and the ways in which we navigate it, by exploring physical sensibilities of movement, weightiness, open vistas, and secluded enclosures. I seek to record my first impression of a place, and convey how that defines it in one’s memory. I rely on the outdoor elements of nature as a stimulus to supply the energy I need to capture that immediate sense of time and place.
